Water sparingly and then allow the soil to dry out completely before watering again. Peperomia have succulent-like qualities in that they hold water in their thick leaves and can withstand long periods without moisture.
Peperomia are sensitive to overwatering and too much water can cause root rot. This is the main cause of serious problems with Peperomia so when in doubt, don’t water.
Peperomia like a humid environment so regular misting of the leaves will keep your plant happy and healthy.
Light - MEDIUM TO LOW
Peperomia thrive in medium to low-light locations. A north or east facing window is perfect for these plants. Too much direct sun can burn the leaves.
Peperomia are one of the best pet-friendly indoor houseplants and are non-toxic if ingested by curious pets.
There are over 1000 varieties of Peperomia plants all with similar care requirements. The leaves are thick and plump and can be rippled, smooth or shiny and come in various shades of green, red, grey and cream.
Happy Peperomia plants will flower, but are most loved for their lush foliage. Peperomia flowers are rather tiny and insignificant, growing on an upright, conical spike which can resemble a rat tail.
